Why it matters
Pinterest users are planning — a move, a kitchen, a first home — and a pin lives for years. A listing pin does not sell that house; it introduces you to a buyer who will search your city when they are ready.
Step by step
- 1Use the vertical cut, 15 seconds is enough; pick the single best room.
- 2Create boards by neighbourhood and by style — 'Craftsman homes in Portland' — and pin to both.
- 3Write the description with the words a planner searches: the style, the room, the city.
- 4Link the pin to the listing page, and after the sale to your site.
- 5Pin the listings with a look; skip the ones without.
What goes wrong
- Pinning every listing — the plain ones dilute the boards.
- A description with no searchable words.
- Linking to a portal page that dies when the listing sells.
The judgement call
A quarterly habit for the listings with design in them. Judge it in a year, not a week.
Questions
Do buyers actually come from Pinterest?
Slowly, and mostly as people who found your boards while planning. It is a name-recognition channel.
Should the pin link to the listing or my site?
The listing while it is live, then update it to your site. Pins outlive listings.
